Implant Restorations
People lose their teeth due to many reasons – tooth decay, accidents, injuries, and periodontal diseases are a few of them. For many years, the only options available to restore missing teeth were prosthetic dentures and bridges. However, with the advancement in dentistry, dental implants have become a better and improved treatment option.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a sought-after treatment option for missing teeth, providing a strong foundation for fixed or removable restorations. Implants are the artificial tooth roots that we attach to your jawbone and restore your teeth. They are a permanent solution for your missing ones.
What are the Advantages of Implants?
*Dental implants appear and feel similar to your natural teeth. As they fuse with your bones, they provide an improved appearance to your smile.
*Implants are a better alternative to poor-fitting dentures, leading to improved speech as they don’t slip out of your mouth.
*Once they become a part of your mouth, dental implants eliminate all sorts of discomfort and do not require any maintenance.
*Compared to other teeth restoration options, implants provide easiness in chewing the food.
*As they do not require reducing other teeth, they ensure improved oral health. Individual implants allow easy access between your teeth. Thus, maintaining oral hygiene doesn’t become a task.
When Do I Need Dental Implants?
*We may recommend dental implants as a treatment option for one or more of your missing teeth.
*You are a candidate for implants if you have sufficient bone mass in the jaws and want to restore your missing teeth. If your bone mass isn’t enough, we will perform a bone graft surgery followed by dental implants.
*They are a sought-after treatment option if you do not want to resort to other alternatives, especially dentures.
How are Implants Placed?
*We will start with a comprehensive dental examination by taking X-rays and 3D images to make the model of your teeth.
*The treatment site will be numbed using general anesthesia, after which we will make a small incision in your gums and your underlying jawbone. A titanium stud will be installed in place, and your gums will be sutured. Meanwhile, we will attach a temporary crown to the implant.
*We will give you a healing time of 4-6 months which will let the implant fuse well to the surrounding bone. This healing period is known as osseointegration.
*During your second consultation, we will make the final restoration with a permanent dental crown.
